Career

society

Theo Hernández, like his older brother Lucas , comes from a football-loving family; her father Jean-François Hernández played 177 first division games for FC Toulouse and FC Sochaux and a second division season at Olympique Marseille . After the father left his family in 2012, his sons consciously only use their first names as athletes (Theo or Lucas). Hernández moved from Rayo Majadahonda to Atlético Madrid in 2007 . There he made his first appearances in the second men's team in the 2015/16 season. He also played with the A-Jugend in the UEFA Youth League .

For the 2016/17 season , Hernández was loaned to Deportivo Alavés until the end of the 2016/17 season. He made his league debut on August 28, 2016 against Sporting Gijón , and under coach Mauricio Pellegrino he became a regular at the newly promoted Basque Country . A good six months later, he was not only considered one of the three best players on the left wing in Spain's top division because of his speed. With Alavés he was also in the final of the Spanish national cup at the end of May 2017 , which he and his team lost 3-1 to FC Barcelona . Hernández scored the interim equalization with a directly converted free kick.

In July 2017, Hernández moved from Atlético to city rivals Real Madrid , with whom he signed a six-year contract. With Real Madrid he won the UEFA Champions League as well as the FIFA Club World Cup , the UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup in the 2017/18 season . However, he could not prevail under the coach Zinédine Zidane on the left-back position against Marcelo and came in the league only on 13 appearances.

Hernández moved to Real Sociedad San Sebastián on loan for the 2018/19 season . There he came to 24 league appearances (22 in the starting XI), in which he scored a goal.

For the season 2019/20 returned to Madrid Hernández not back, but moved to the Italian Serie A for AC Milan . He signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2024.

National team

He has played 13 games with the French A-Youth team (U18 / U19) and has played three games in the U20 since September 2016 , for which he also scored a goal in the 4-1 win over his Japanese contemporaries.
