Holger Greilich (born July 12, 1971 in Mainz ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Born in Mainz, Holger Greilich played for 1. FSV Mainz 05 from 1991 . Before that he was already active for the amateur clubs SC Lerchenberg, MTV 1817 Mainz and SpVgg Ingelheim . He made his debut with the then second division team on August 9, 1991 in the game against FC 08 Homburg (0-0) when he came on for Mike Janz in the 65th minute . In the course of the 1992/93 season he had then also conquered a regular place in the Mainz team.
In 1995 he left the zero five and went to 1860 Munich , which was promoted to the Bundesliga in 1994 . With the "Löwen" trained by Werner Lorant at the time , he developed into a top performer and was about to be accepted into the German national team . In 1999, however, he suffered cartilage damage in his knee. After recovering, he was initially used again regularly and also played games in the A2 national team , but an injury in the 2000/01 season led to a career breakdown.
In 2002 he went to Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus , where he met other ex-Bundesliga players such as Stefan Brasas , Marco Haber and Rainer Rauffmann , who has been playing in Cyprus for a long time . After only one season he went back to Germany, where he signed on with the regional division 1. FC Saarbrücken . After only three games for the Saarlanders, however, he suffered another knee injury and did not play another game. After the season he ended his career.
