DR series VT 137.5–6

The Deutsche Reichsbahn classified the four- and multi-axle railcars of the non- Reichsbahn -owned public transport railroads in the Soviet occupation zone and the GDR in the number range 137 501ff . The numbering scheme came into effect on January 1, 1950.

The following number ranges were provided:

  • 137 501 to 137 510: petrol-mechanical drive, standard gauge
  • 137 511 to 137 530: diesel-mechanical drive, standard gauge
  • 137 531 to 137 540: diesel-mechanical drive, narrow-gauge
  • 137 551 to 137 560: diesel-electric drive, standard gauge
  • 137 561 to 137 570: diesel-electric drive, narrow-gauge
  • 137 571 to 137 580: diesel-hydraulic drive, standard gauge
  • 137 600: Diesel-mechanical powered multiple unit, narrow gauge

Sidecars were assigned to number groups 147 501ff and control cars in 145 500ff.
