The home right in the final will be drawn separately in the event of a pairing of two equal-class teams.

In the first main round only the teams of the Sachsenliga, the state class and the district cup winners compete, whereby there are three byes. In the 2nd main round, the teams from the major league are added. From the 3rd main round, the teams from the 3rd league and the regional league also intervene in the competition.

The Saxony Cup winner in the 2018/19 DFB Cup

In the DFB-Pokal, BSG Chemie Leipzig achieved a surprise success in the first main round: Despite a 0-1 deficit in the meantime, they were able to eliminate second division SSV Jahn Regensburg and became the first Saxony Cup representative since 2014 ( Chemnitzer FC ) to make it into the second main round . There was another duel with a representative of the 2nd Bundesliga, SC Paderborn, against whom BSG Chemie had no chance. This means that none of the Saxon State Cup winners had managed to reach the last 16 in the DFB Cup.
