Stations as a trainer
After his active career, Demuth became an amateur trainer at FC St. Pauli in 1990. In the 1992/93 season he was assistant coach at 1. FC Kaiserslautern before he played his first season as head coach at SV Lurup in 1993/94 . From 1996 to 1998 he was again employed as assistant coach at VfL Wolfsburg and from 1999 also held this position at his old club, FC St. Pauli. After Willi Reimann's departure , he became head coach there on March 15, 2000 and was promoted to the Bundesliga with his team in 2001 . After relegation the following year and an unsuccessful start to the 2002/03 season , Demuth was released from FC St. Pauli.
In the following years he coached the Ghanaian club Ashanti Gold SC before joining Chemnitzer FC in March 2005 . There he was able to prevent relegation from the regional league , but was dismissed in the following season in November 2005 due to continued unsuccessfulness.
From November 2006 to March 2007 he was assistant coach, between March and June 2007 interim head coach of Eintracht Braunschweig in the 2nd Bundesliga, but could no longer avert the threat of relegation to the regional league. For the 2007/08 season he was replaced by Benno Möhlmann .
On October 7, 2007 Demuth moved to Potsdam to SV Babelsberg 03 in the Regionalliga Nord , with which he won the state cup, but missed the qualification for the newly created single-track 3rd division . After a third place in the following season, Demuth secured with SV Babelsberg 03 on May 9, 2010 with a 1-0 home win against Halleschen FC the relay win in the Regionalliga Nord and thus promotion to the 3rd division. On May 14, 2012, Demuth was released after relegation with SV Babelsberg, his contract, which ran until June 30, 2013, was then terminated.
From July 22, 2013 Demuth took over the Hamburg state division club FC Bergedorf 85 , where he acted on the one hand as the head coach of the league team and on the other hand as an instructor for the youth coaches. Furthermore, Demuth dared a detour into the gastronomy and took over the club's own restaurant. After only three months he ended his job in Bergedorf. In March 2014 Demuth was introduced as the new coach of the regional league team Berliner AK 07 . There he should help to keep relegation and win the Berlin Cup. At the Berlin AK, however, Demuth was released from his duties after just six games. The team had previously lost 4-0 to Wacker Nordhausen . He was succeeded by his former assistant Özkan Gümüş , under whom the BAK won three games in a row.
At the end of October 2014, Demuth became the new head coach of ZFC Meuselwitz , who also plays in the Regionalliga Nordost. At the time of his assumption of office, the ZFC ranked last in the table with 5 points from 11 games. On January 21, 2016 it was announced that he was taking over the Saxon state division club BSG Chemie Leipzig , which he led into the Oberliga Nordost.
