history

The club was founded on December 15, 1907 in the district of Wedding in the Mitte district as Berliner Athletik-Klub 07 and originally operated mainly running disciplines - several German championships are among the successes. A forerunner of the now world-famous Berlin Marathon was already launched by the Berlin AK 07 , but at a time without appropriate media and economic support and therefore largely unknown.

As early as 1908, the Berlin AK 07 had a football department. But only between 1991 and 1999 did the club draw attention to itself in football, when it made it through from the district league A to the northern relay of the Oberliga Nordost . In the 2010/11 season, the club rose to the Regionalliga Nord , and since the 2012/13 season it has been playing in the re-established Regionalliga Nordost .

With the connection of BSV Mitte , which had previously played as BFC Güneyspor and Fenerbahce Berlin , the BAK became a German-Turkish club in 2004. In June 2006 a cooperation with the Turkish first division club Ankaraspor was announced. This cooperation in particular provided for the training of players for Ankaraspor, but never came to fruition at the club in Berlin because the Turkish club Ankaraspor had just managed to stay in the league on the last day of the 2005/06 season.

In the 99th year of the BAK's existence, the association was renamed to Berlin Ankaraspor Kulübü 07 e. On July 6, 2006 at an extraordinary general meeting . V. decided and Ahmet Gökcek, the son of the local mayor who lives in Ankara, was elected 1st chairman. With the name change, there was also the abandonment of the traditional colors red and white in favor of the Ankaraspor colors, blue and white.

The year 2007 brought another turning point. When the district rival SV Yeşilyurt Berlin was in high debt in November , the Yeşilyurt board members proposed a merger to the BAK 07, which also failed at the BAK 07 due to financial problems. Thereupon the Yeşilyurt board was elected to the board of the BAK and at the same time announced all SV Yeşilyurt teams from the game. The aim was that the Yeşilyurt teams also switched to the BAK 07. However, the former members founded the new SK Yeşilyurt 07.

At the beginning of the 2007/08 season, Ankaraspor surprisingly also terminated its financial commitment to BAK. Almost the entire team then left the club. With an increased A-youth, the club managed to stay in the league. Also in the 2008/09 season, the team was just able to prevent relegation on the last days of the game. Ersan Parlatan acted as the new coach for Bülent Gündogdu, who had moved to the board. In the 2009/10 season the BAK occupied 10th place in the league table. The highlight of the season, however, was winning the Berlin State Cup , which was secured with a 1-0 final win over BFC Dynamo . This was the first time the club qualified for the DFB Cup . There the BAK met Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the first main round , but did not get past a 1: 2 and was eliminated.

Berliner AK - ZFC Meuselwitz in the 2016/17 season

With a notice of April 15, 2011, the club took on its old name and traditional colors again.

After a 3rd place in the table in the 2010/11 season, the Berlin AK rose to the regional league because the teams from Torgelower SV Greif and FC Hansa Rostock II , which were placed ahead of the Berliners, waived promotion for financial reasons. In order to meet the sporting demands of the regional league, Jens Härtel was hired as the new head coach, who until then was employed as an assistant coach at SV Babelsberg 03 .

On May 26, 2012, the Berlin AK won the Berlin State Cup for the second time with a 2-0 win against SC Gatow and thus qualified for the first main round of the DFB Cup , in which surprisingly the Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim defeated 4-0. This is the football division's greatest success in the club's history. In the second round, the BAK lost to TSV 1860 Munich with 0: 3.

In the 2015/16 season, the club took second place under coach Steffen Baumgart in the Regionalliga Nordost, only separated from the season winner and promoted FSV Zwickau by a difference of one goal . On August 31, 2016, the club separated from Baumgart, his successor was Jörg Goslar.
