history

The origins of the ZFC Meuselwitz go back to the Sportlust Zipsendorf club, which was founded in 1900, but did not appear nationwide until 1945. When all sports clubs in the Soviet occupation zone were finally smashed after the end of the Second World War , after the introduction of the system of company sports communities (BSG) at the end of the 1940s, the BSG activist Zipsendorf continued sports as the company sports community of the Zipsendorf brown coal mine. The football section was able to record its first successes in the 1950s, in 1954, 1955 and 1956 the Altenburg district championship was won, the latter was connected with promotion to the fifth-class district class in Leipzig. The BSG activist was able to stay there until 1959, a 6th place in the 1959 season meant relegation to the district class, since the district class was dissolved. In 1976 the BSG was renamed Activist Meuselwitz due to the incorporation of Zipsendorf to Meuselwitz.

As a result of the political and economic changes caused by the fall of 1989 , the company sports community was reorganized in 1990 into the registered association “Mining Sports Association ”. Shortly afterwards, the football department spun off and founded the football club (FV) Zipsendorf. After the club had played for a long time at district level, the nineties brought multiple advancement as coach under the GDR player Konrad Schaller : In 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997 the club, which from 1994 onwards became the “Zipsendorfer Fußballclub (ZFC) Meuselwitz “Called, in the next higher division. From the 1997/98 season, the ZFC played in the Thuringian League and always reached a single-digit place in the table at the end of the season. In the spring of 2002, the former GDR national player Damian Halata became the coach of the ZFC and remained so until 2006. In 2003 the club reached the semifinals of the Thuringian State Cup . In 2004 the ZFC Meuselwitz rose to the Oberliga Nordost . In this league, the ZFC was able to hold its own, which is reflected in places 6 (in 2005) and 5 (2006 and 2007). From December 2007 until his leave of absence on May 2, 2011, Halata was again the trainer of the ZFC.

On May 31, 2009, ZFC Meuselwitz reached early promotion to the regional league on the penultimate matchday of the season . In the northern season of this division, the Meuselwitzer finished 10th in the table in their first season . On May 16, 2010, the ZFC won the Thuringian State Cup with a 2-0 victory over the upper division VfB Pößneck . This qualified the club for the first main round of the 2010/11 DFB Cup , in which it lost 2-0 to 1. FC Köln . In the Regional 2010/11 season the Meusel Witzer 11. occupied in the final standings Place a 6: 5 victory on penalties over the Association division 1. SC 1911 Holy City of ZFC could defend the TFV Cup successfully and thus in the 2011/12 season in compete in the 1st main round of the DFB Cup. The newly promoted Hertha BSC was drawn to the ZFC; over 8,000 spectators were expected for the game. Since the capacity of the bluechip arena was insufficient, additional stands were built especially for this game. The game was lost 4-0 in front of 8,000 spectators.
