history
The roots of the association go back to 1919. On April 1st of that year, football-loving workers from the Piesteritz nitrogen works founded the 1. FC Wacker Piesteritz. However, the club suffered from a lack of members in the following years and so in 1924 it merged with TSV Piesteritz to form the Association for Lawn Sports (VfR). As part of the NSDAP- controlled sports operation, the VfR was merged with other sports clubs for the gymnastics and sports movement (TSB) Piesteritz in 1933. Its soccer team rose to the second highest German soccer class in 1938.
In 1946 the association was dissolved at the instigation of the Soviet occupying power. After that, sports competitions were only possible at the local level in loosely organized sports communities. After the introduction of the system of company sports associations , the Piesteritz nitrogen works and the rubber works founded the BSG Chemie Piesteritz on May 13, 1949. She offered a wide range of sports including a. Football, handball, boxing, table tennis, gymnastics, cycling and canoeing. In 1985 the BSG had 2970 members. In the early days, table tennis athletes made the BSG known nationwide by winning the GDR men's championship in 1950 and luge athlete Walter Feist with the 1951 GDR championship. While the handball men temporarily played in the highest GDR handball class, the soccer players did not get beyond the third division.
After German reunification and the associated economic changes, there was no longer any economic basis for the company sports associations. Members of the BSG Chemie then founded the SV Grün-Weiß Wittenberg-Piesteritz in June 1990 with the sports departments football, handball, swimming, gymnastics and judo / karate. In the summer of 2001, the football department left the club and on July 16, 2001 founded their own club, FC Grün-Weiß Piesteritz.
Development of football from 1949
The soccer team of BSG Chemie Piesteritz was one of the founding communities of the third-class Halle district league, which was established in 1952 . The team was able to stay in the district league for three years, but then had to relegate to the district class, which was fifth class at the time, in 1955. Only in 1961 succeeded in returning to the district league, in which the BSG Chemie was able to assert itself in the following four seasons. When after the end of the 1964/65 season the district league was reduced from two to one season, Piesteritz rose again with rank 12 in the now fourth-class district class. After rising again in 1970, Konstanz finally returned, and the team was able to secure relegation in the district league until the end of the GDR game operations in 1991. The chemists achieved their best result in the 1979/80 season, which they finished with second place.
In 1976 the soccer players of BSG Chemie celebrated the greatest success in their history when they won the soccer cup of the Halle district after a 1-0 victory over BSG Progress Weissenfels . This meant that they had also qualified for participation in the 1976/77 GDR soccer cup competition . There they were only eliminated after a penalty shoot-out against second division TSG Gröditz in the first main round.
After the introduction of the DFB game operations, SV Grün-Weiß first played, later FC in the State League Saxony-Anhalt. In 1997 he was promoted to the then fifth class association league , from 2008 6th league. After the best result so far in the association league was achieved with second place in the season 2008/2009, in 2010/11 under coach Uwe Ferl the promotion to the Oberliga Nordost succeeded . A few days earlier, the team had lost the final of the Saxony-Anhalt Cup against Halleschen FC 2-0.
