From 1996 to 1999 he played for VfL Halle 1896 in the fourth-class Oberliga Nordost and contributed to promotion to the Regionalliga Nordost in his last season . Oswald, however, moved to the second division Chemnitzer FC , where he became a regular player.
He made his debut in paid football on August 13, 1999 (1st matchday) in a 2-0 win at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach . After the team's relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the 2000/01 season , he joined Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the third-class Regionalliga Nord . For the 2002/03 season he moved to the amateurs of FC Bayern Munich in the Regionalliga Süd to lead the young team as an experienced player. After two years in Munich, he returned to the 2nd Bundesliga and played for Dynamo Dresden until 2006 , where he was also a top performer. During his two-year membership, he also scored his only second division goals, with his first of four on August 7, 2004 (1st matchday) in a 3-1 win in the home game against MSV Duisburg with the 1-1 goal in 67. Minute succeeded.
From 2006 to 2008 Oswald played for FC Sachsen Leipzig in the fourth-class Oberliga Nordost . He then moved to the 2008/09 season for ZFC Meuselwitz in the (now) fifth-class Oberliga Nordost (due to the introduction of the 3rd division ). With the club he finished the season in the season south as a master, which meant promotion to the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord and in which he ended his playing career at the end of the 2011/12 season with ninth place.
At the beginning of the 2012/13 season , Oswald took over the position of co-trainer at ZFC Meuselwitz at Holm Pinder's side . This was preceded by a job-related departure of the former assistant coach Jan Vollrath. In the 2014/15 season he was solely responsible for the first team. For the 2017/18 season he took over the coaching position at the upper division Askania Bernburg .
Others
The left-footer played in defensive midfield, but was still an excellent preparer and also a good free-kick taker. "Ossi" or "Kampfschwein", as he was jokingly called because of his powerful demeanor, was considered a born leader who always tried to resolve difficult situations.
