Football section

Askania Bernburg was founded in 1879 as a gymnastics club, but did not appear in a higher class in football until 1945.

In 1945 the association was dissolved and re-established as SG Eintracht Bernburg . In the period that followed, the loose sports group was briefly renamed SG Bernburg-Süd and BSG KWU Eintracht Bernburg . With the subsequent incorporation into the sports association Empor , further name changes followed to BSG Empor Bernburg , from 1951 to BSG Chemie Bernburg .

On a sporting level, Eintracht Bernburg was in the years 1948/49 and 1949/50 for two seasons in the then first or. second-rate state league Saxony-Anhalt ( SBZ ), but could not qualify for the newly introduced GDR league in 1950 . Chemie Bernburg became a founding member of the third-class Halle district league , which was founded in 1952 and from which chemistry was relegated in 1954. 1957 succeeded together with Stahl Helbra the return to the top division of the district, which was held until 1966. The best results were the runner-up championships won behind Motor Aschersleben and HSG Wissenschaft Halle in 1959 and 1963 , with which Chemie Bernburg only narrowly failed in its possible promotion to the 2nd GDR league .

In the following time no return to the district league succeeded, the BSG appeared until 1991 exclusively in the Halle district class area. In 1990, the association was renamed Askania Bernburg . From 1994 to 2014 Askania Bernburg acted consistently between the Association League Saxony-Anhalt and the state class area. In 2014, they celebrated promotion to the fifth-class Oberliga Nordost as runner-up and benefited from the waiver of the master BSV Halle-Ammendorf .
