The FSV Martinroda is a football club from the place Martinroda in the Ilm district . The footballers became Thuringian champions in 2018/19 and were promoted to the NOFV Oberliga, Season South , for the first time in 2019 .
history
In Martinroda, the soccer game of an SV Martinroda was mentioned for the first time in an advertisement in 1928. Otherwise little is known before the Second World War. Even in the GDR, only lower class was played in the district class. From around 1970 until the reunification, the BSG tractors played in Martinroda. Then from 1989 onwards, football was completely idle.
It was not until 1997/98 that the newly founded FSV Martinroda started in the 2nd district class with standards Fabig, Jan Fabig, Norbert Wolf, Bernd Kümmerling, Gunnar Schneider and Uwe Schmautz - six former top performers of the neighborhood rival SV 08 Geraberg. Initially ridiculed but determined, they made three consecutive promotions to the district league (2000/01).
For one year it went back to the district league in 2002/03, but in 2003 the promotion was successful in 2003 and after top places it went into the national class for two years in 2009. Places 5 (Season East, 2009/10) and 1 (Season South, 2010/11) brought the promotion of FSV Martinroda to the Thuringian League (15th, 9th, 8th, 6th, 8th, 7th, 2nd ., 1.). With the national title in 2019, the promotion to the NOFV-Oberliga followed for the first time and in 2020 the leap to the state cup final. In the semifinals, Martinroda should have played at SV 1879 Ehrenhain. But because Ehrenhain, as the quarter-final loser for the withdrawn regional league club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt, moved up for the draw at short notice, Martinroda lodged a complaint and demanded a bye. A note in the implementation regulations of the Thuringian Football Association, in which it is stipulated in section 4.1 that a team that has been eliminated from the competition may no longer participate in the competition, brought the FSV Martinroda into the final without a fight. In this, however, the FSV lost to FC Carl Zeiss Jena with 2: 8.
Venue
FSV Martinroda plays its home games at Sportpark Martinroda. This venue is located in a pine forest on the outskirts, has a lawn and an artificial turf pitch. The capacity is 1500 spectators. The artificial turf has a floodlight. A lovingly developed modern functional building with its own sports restaurant is located on a high slope above the lawn. The audience record is 1100 spectators. They came on September 2, 2017 in the national cup game of FSV Martinroda against third division club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt (1: 8). Previously, the record was 780 spectators, who on August 29, 2014 in the derby between Martinroda and SpVgg. Geratal Geschwenda-Geraberg (2: 1) came. Both rivals are only four kilometers apart.
successes
In 2011, FSV Martinroda rose from the Thuringian regional class (7th division) to the Thuringian league, where it was national champion in 2018/19. Since 2019, the team has been playing in the fifth-highest German division, the NOFV Oberliga, Staffel Süd . In 2020, the club made it to the soccer state cup final of Thuringia for the first time.
