The Saxony-Anhalt state soccer class in 1949/50 was the second edition of the Saxony-Anhalt state soccer class . After the introduction of the GDR Oberliga , the national class was only second class from this season. The national class was again played in two seasons in a round-robin tournament , both seasons were increased to 12 teams, the two season winners played the Saxony-Anhalt soccer champions in a final. The BSG Eisenhüttenwerk Thale was able to prevail in this final against the ZSG Hydrierwerke Zeitz and thus qualified for the promotion round to the football league 1950/51 , in which Thale secured promotion to the top league by taking third place. Zeitz and the runners-up of both seasons, ZSG Burg and BSG Schuhmetro Weißenfels , qualified for the second-rate GDR league, which was newly introduced for the coming season . As a result of this introduction, the state class of Saxony-Anhalt was only third class from the coming season.

Since a reduction of the national class to one relay was planned for the 1950/51 season, a total of eight teams had to relegate to the district classes. After the introduction of the system of company sports associations (BSG) , several sports associations had adopted a new name.

With the victory, Thale qualified for the promotion round to the GDR football league in 1950/51 , Zeitz rose to the newly established second-rate GDR league .
