The Thuringia regional soccer class in 1949/50 was the second edition of the Thuringia regional soccer class . After the introduction of the GDR Oberliga , the Thuringia regional class was only second class from this season. The national class was reduced to two relays with 13 teams each, the two relay winners played the Thuringian football champions in a final. The BSG KWU Weimar prevailed in the final against the promoted SG Lauscha 1-0 and thus qualified for the promotion round to the East German Football League 1950/51 , in which Weimar had qualified by second place for the top division. Lauscha and the runners-up from both seasons, BSG KWU Nordhausen and BSG Carl Zeiss Jena , qualified for the second-rate GDR league, which was newly introduced for the coming season . With this introduction, the Thuringia national class was only third class from next season.

Since a further reduction to one relay was planned for the 1950/51 season, a total of eleven teams had to relegate to the district classes in 1949/50. After the Eastern Zone sport had been converted to the basis of company sports associations (BSG) , most of the previous SG appeared with new names.
