Glückauf Bleicherode was founded in 1945 as the successor to VfB Bleicherode under the name SG Bleicherode . The sports group initially acted until 1949 for two seasons in the Thuringian state league of the SBZ . In November 1949, the local Bleicherode potash works took over the SG as a carrier company . The company sports community subsequently appeared under the name Kali Bleicherode , Glückauf Bleicherode and, from 1950, as an activist Bleicherode .

On a sporting level, activist Bleicherode became a founding member of the third-class district league in Erfurt in 1952 . Bleicherode was Erfurt district champion already in the opening season. In 1955 activist won this title again, but again missed promotion to the GDR league . In 1957 the runner-up in front of Dynamo Erfurt was enough to qualify for the third-class II. GDR league . The second GDR league was held by the Thuringians with mostly secured midfield positions, only in the 1961/62 season they were in a relegation battle with Wissenschaft Halle .

With the dissolution of the league ordered in 1963, Bleicherode was reintegrated into the Erfurt district league area. Bleicherode was active in the district league for many years, but the possible rise in 1981 behind Motor Eisenach was again missed. With the district league relegation in 1988, the club sank into the insignificance of Thuringian football in the following period. Since being promoted from the Northern Thuringia District League in 2016, the eight-class Nordhausen District League has been the sporting home of the Bleicheroder.
