The FSV Rot-Weiß Breitungen is a German football club from Breitungen / Werra in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen . The home of the association is the Friedenskampfbahn , RW Breitungen is a successor to BSG Motor Breitungen .

society

Rot-Weiß Breitungen was founded in 1945 as a loose sports group under the name SG Eintracht Werra Breitungen . The SG briefly took part in the championship of the LL Thuringia ( SBZ ), but did not qualify for the final round of the Eastern Zone Championship . The SG appeared until 1951 as a company sports association under the names Einheit Breitungen , Mechanik Breitungen and Motor Breitungen .

From 1952 onwards, the Thuringians played in the third-class football district league Suhl , of which they were a founding member. The top division of the district of Suhl held Breitungen with top places, 1958 succeeded in front of Lok Meiningen and WK Schmalkalden, the first rise to the 2nd GDR league . The then third-highest division of the GDR held the Thuringian two seasons, with Breitungen only failed because of the worse goal difference to Motor Sonneberg in the 1960 season.

The district league Suhl was able to win the BSG Motor Breitungen several times in their season, but failed in the promotion games to Motor Veilsdorf and Motor Oberlind . The BSG held the Suhl district league area with interruptions until 1977, after which it sank into the insignificance of GDR football.

In 1990 the association changed its name to Red-White Breitungen . The club, which then always played in the lower class, currently operates in the eight-class regional upper league Rhön-Rennsteig .
