FSV Waltershausen was founded in 1904 under the name FC Meteor 04 Waltershausen . Until 1945, the club always acted in a lower class within Central German football, any participation in the Gauliga Mitte or in the finals of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs did not take place.

In 1945 the association was dissolved and re-established as SG Waltershausen . Waltershausen acted in the 1949/50 season for one season in the then second-rate Thuringia Regional League ( SBZ ), but could not qualify for the newly introduced GDR league with the penultimate place . In the period that followed, the loose sports group split into the company sports associations Chemie Waltershausen and Motor Waltershausen with the entry of the carrier companies VEB Gummiwerke “Kowalit and VEB Fahrzeugwerk Waltershausen .

Chemistry Waltershausen

On a sporting level, Chemie Waltershausen was promoted to the Erfurt regional league, which was then third class, as early as 1953, together with the Heiligenstadt unit . Chemistry consistently held the top division of the district until 1962, and there was no realistic chance of advancement to the 2nd GDR League or GDR League . With the reduction of the district league seasons, due to the upcoming dissolution of the II. GDR league in 1963, from two to one seasons, Chemie Waltershausen went back to the Erfurt district class area.

ZSG Waltershausen / ZSG Green-White / FSV Waltershausen

In 1964 both company sports associations merged to form ZSG Waltershausen . The central sports community only appeared sporadically at a higher level in Erfurt district football. In the seventies, the regional league was immediately relegated three times, and in the eighties the ZSG finally sank into insignificance.

From 1990 the association was renamed ZSG Grün-Weiß Waltershausen again . The ZSG Grün-Weiß was only active in Gotha local football after the fall of the Wall, and promotions to the Thuringia regional league were no longer possible. In 2011, the soccer department was separated from the ZSG and has been operating under the name FSV Waltershausen ever since . The current league is the national class . This season, the team managed to rise from the district league.
