The season 1949/50 the Amateur Oberliga Niedersachsen was the first season of highest Lower Saxony amateur league in football . At that time it took the second highest level in the German league system. A master was not played out. TSV Goslar 08 and Eintracht Osnabrück qualified for the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord , with the Osnabrückers being able to prevail. From the Oberliga Nord no team was relegated to the Amateur Oberliga Niedersachsen.
The relegation places were taken in the west by TuS Haste 01 and SV Limmer 1910 . In the east, FSV Sarstedt and VfL Visselhövede had to relegate. For this, Werder Hannover , BV Quakenbrück and TuS Varel rose from the Lower Saxony amateur league in the West group and FSV Peine and VfL Seesen in the East group. In addition, TSV Gnarrenburg moved from the Bremen amateur league to the West group. The TSG Osterode named in VfR Osterode 08 to. The Lehrter SV was called Reichsbahn SV Lehrte until December 8, 1949 .

Qualification for the German Amateur Championship
The runners-up of the two seasons determined the Lower Saxony participant in the German amateur soccer championship in a decider . The game took place on May 7, 1950 in Hanover in the stadium at Bischofsholer Damm . Wolfsburg won the game, but that was meaningless. A German amateur championship was not played until 1951.
