The 1970/71 season the division Lower Saxony was the 22nd season of the highest Lower Saxony amateur league in football . It was the seventh under the name Landesliga and at that time took the third highest level in the German league system. Master of were OSV Hannover . In addition to Hanover, SV Union Salzgitter and Eintracht Nordhorn took part in the promotion round to Regionalliga Nord . Hanover was able to prevail and rose to the regional league.

In the Verbandsliga had Niedersachsen Döhren , the VfV Hildesheim and SuS Northeim descend. For this, Hameln and FC Schöningen 08 rose from the Association League Preußen .

    Playoffs for sixth place

    The four teams from Haste, Emden, Nordhorn and Oldenburg with equal points determined the third Lower Saxony participant in the promotion round to the Regionalliga Nord 1971/72 from neutral places in the knockout system . The semi-finals took place on May 2, 1970, with the game Haste against Oldenburg in Lohne and the game Emden against Nordhorn in Papenburg .

    The two teams from Peine and Northeim with equal points determined the third relegated team from the regional league in a play-off on neutral place. This had become necessary because two Lower Saxony teams from the regional league had to relegate to the state league and only one team from Lower Saxony rose to the regional league. The game took place on May 16, 1971 in Alfeld .
