The season 1959/60 the Amateur Oberliga Niedersachsen was the eleventh season of highest Lower Saxony amateur league in football . At that time it took the second highest level in the German league system. The amateurs of Hannover 96 became champions . Leu Braunschweig , SV Arminia Hannover and VfB Oldenburg took part in the promotion round to the Oberliga Nord , where Oldenburg prevailed. Eintracht Osnabrück rose from the Oberliga Nord to the Amateur Oberliga Niedersachsen.

The relegation places took Eintracht Cuxhaven and SC Nordenham in the west and SG Adenstedt and Borussia Hildesheim in the east . Instead, Stern Emden and Sparta Nordhorn rose from the Lower Saxony amateur league to the West group and the amateurs from VfV Hildesheim and 1. FC Wolfsburg to the East group. For the 1960/61 season, the amateurs from Hanover 96 and Preußen Hameln moved to the eastern group and SV Arminia Hanover and Sportfreunde Ricklingen moved to the western group.

    The teams with equal points on Braunschweig, Hildesheim and Ricklingen determined the second relegated from the northern group in the league system . The game Braunschweig against Hildesheim took place on May 14, 1960 in Peine , the other two games on May 21 and 28, 1960, respectively, in Lehrte . Braunschweig and Ricklingen prevailed while Hildesheim had to relegate to the amateur league.
