Rot-Weiß Steterburg was a sports club from Salzgitter . The first soccer team played for six years in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony.

The association was founded in 1941. Even before the club could play its first championship game, the game was stopped because of the Second World War . In 1949 the club was included in the then third-class Amateur League 4 . In the mid-1950s, the sporty soaring began. In 1955, Rot-Weiß was runner-up behind Union Salzgitter . A year later, the Steterburg champions were, but failed in the promotion round. In 1957, the team celebrated the renewed championship and, after a final 5-3 victory over the amateurs of VfL Wolfsburg, made it into the Lower Saxony amateur league .

The club was able to stay in the Upper House of Lower Saxony for four years, with twelfth place being the best placement in the year of promotion. After relegation in 1961, Rot-Weiß missed the newly created Verbandsliga Ost in 1964 , which was then reached in 1967. A year later, the A-youth won the North German championship after a 4-0 victory over Bremerhaven 93 . In 1971 the Steterburg runners-up were behind FC Schöningen 08 . After the dissolution of the Association League, the Landesliga Ost was reached in 1979 , where there were mostly only placements in the midfield.

In 1992 he was promoted to the Lower Saxony Association League . A year later you had to tremble for a long time to stay in the league. It was only after Eintracht Braunschweig withdrew its amateur team from the association league that Red-White would stay in the league. However, all top performers left the club and Steterburg were knocked off bottom of the table with 178 goals conceded in the 1993/94 season. At Lüneburger SK they lost 2:13.

Due to a league reform, however, the club stayed in the Lower Saxony House of Lords, where relegation followed in 1995. Red-White had the worse goal difference compared to TuSpo Petershütte with equal points . Three years later, the team was relegated from the Braunschweig regional league and played in the Salzgitter regional league until they withdrew in 2011 . The association later filed for bankruptcy and was dissolved.
