history

Osnabrücker SV 08 (1908 to 1937)

The club was founded on April 3, 1908 as Osnabrück Sports Club 08 . This rose in 1920 to the then first-class Westphalia district league , but was promptly relegated again as bottom of the table. In 1928 the promotion succeeded again after the Osnabrück could prevail in the playoff for promotion 2-1 after extra time against SV 09 Rheine . This time, too, the team had to relegate as bottom of the table. In 1933, the members of the clubs SC Osnabrück , FC Concordia Osnabrück and Free Swimmers Osnabrück, which were forcibly dissolved as workers' sports clubs , joined the OSV. Four years later there was a merger with TV Jahn 1892 Osnabrück and SV Schwarz-Weiß Wulfter Turm Osnabrück to form TSV 1897 Osnabrück .

TSV Osnabrück (1937 to 1945)

After TSV failed in the promotion round to the Lower Saxony Gauliga in 1940 at TuRa Gröpelingen , the team prevailed against Bremer SV and Germania Walsrode a year later . Thanks to numerous wartime guest players such as Helmut Kronsbein , the Osnabrückers were able to establish themselves quickly. In the 1942/43 season, TSV was third in the Gauliga Weser-Ems and was the sporting number one in the city ahead of Schinkel 04 and VfL Osnabrück . At the champions Wilhelmshaven 05 the Osnabrück had to accept a 0-17 defeat.

Due to the Second World War , the Gauligen were divided more and more. In the 1943/44 season, TSV was finally runner-up in the Osnabrück season behind VfL. Then the TSV formed a war game community with the Wehrmacht sports club Osnabrück . It is not known whether they even played championship games in the 1944/45 season. After the end of the war, the TSV split into the clubs Eintracht Osnabrück and TV Jahn Osnabrück .

Path to the first division (1945 to 1953)

The Second World War marked a major turning point for unity. The Paradies stadium , named after a popular coffee house , was completely destroyed. The new club then moved into the Hammersen AG sports field on Brinkstrasse. In 1948, the Eintracht, popularly known as the "Yellow", champions of the Landesliga Weser / Ems, but missed promotion to the first-class Oberliga Nord . With a little luck, this was made up for two years later. The 2-4 defeat against Blumenthaler SV was canceled and repeated by the association due to an error by the referee . Eintracht won the replay 7-1.

In the Oberliga Nord, Eintracht met clubs such as Hamburger SV , Werder Bremen , Hannover 96 , Eintracht Braunschweig and local rivals VfL. Up to 15,000 spectators streamed into the stadium on Brinkstrasse in Osnabrück. Before the start, the club had to deal with numerous problems. The Ascheplatz on Brinkstraße was not approved for league games, so a lawn had to be laid in a hurry. Since there was no changing room on the site , the visiting teams had to use a room in the Gerritzen dance hall and were taken to the game by bus.

Thanks to his home strength, he managed to stay up in the 1950/51 season, which was secured by a 5-1 win over 1. SC Göttingen 05 . Rumors then emerged that the Eintracht victory was achieved through bribery . However, these could never be proven. The highlight of the season was the 1-0 win over Hamburger SV on January 14, 1951. A year later , the "yellows" secured their league with a 3-1 win at Werder Bremen.

Eintracht started the 1952/53 season promisingly with 3: 1 points . After a 3: 4 defeat at Hamburger SV, things went downhill in terms of sport. The curious highlight of the season was a 7: 8 defeat against Altona 93 , in which Eintracht had still led 5: 2 and 6: 5. In March 1953 , the tax office seized the income from the game against Arminia Hannover . At the end of the season, Eintracht rose.

Elevator Years (1954 to 1977)

In the years that followed, the "yellows" were among the top teams in the second-class amateur league Lower Saxony- West. In 1956, Eintracht failed in the league promotion round at Heider SV . Three years later, the team qualified again for the promotion round after a 1-0 play-off win against Göttingen 05. On the last day of the match, Eintracht won 3-2 at Heider SV and thus managed to return to the top class. For financial reasons, the club could hardly strengthen itself, so that the last place jumped out with only two wins this season.

Back in the amateur league, the “yellows” couldn't get past midfield. In 1964, the team missed the single-track Lower Saxony State League . One point was missing from VfL Germania Leer . A year later, as the first champion of the Verbandsliga West, the rise succeeded, but not least because of 97 goals conceded, Eintracht had to leave the highest division of Lower Saxony in 1966. In the meantime, the handball department left the club after internal disputes.

In the following season 1966/67, the rise as runner-up behind the amateurs of VfL Osnabrück was missed. Two years later, he was relegated to the district league 8, before even going down to the district class in 1971. After two ascents in a row, the "yellow" again reached the Verbandsliga West, where they could not get beyond the relegation battle. The negative climax was a 9-0 defeat at Amisia Papenburg . In 1977 the team was relegated from the Association League.

Decline (since 1977)

After several district league years, he was promoted to the Weser / Ems regional league in 1982 , where Eintracht played with varying degrees of success. In the mid-1980s, the club's management tried to make promotion to the Landesliga West possible by means of expensive newcomers . This did not work and after two relegations in a row, Eintracht came in 1991 in the district class. Two years later, the district league was promoted again, before the "yellows" arrived in 1995 after two relegations in a row in the district league.

In the meantime, with 180,000 marks in debt, Eintracht increasingly focused on youth work. In 1997 he returned to the district class, which was held until 2006. With the abolition of this division, it went back to the district league. There he was promoted to the district league straight away. There the "yellows" had no chance and had to relegate without a win. In the district league, the team was passed, so that Eintracht had reached its sporting low point in 2009 in the ninth-class 1st district class Osnabrück-Stadt . In 2011, when he was third in the table, he was promoted to the Osnabrück-Stadt district league .
