The Gauliga Weser-Ems was one of the highest leagues in German football during the National Socialist era .

history

The league was created in 1942 together with the Gauliga Südhannover-Braunschweig as the successor to the Gauliga Lower Saxony . In the league, ten teams played for the championship title in the first season, which guaranteed participation in the German championship. In 1943 the championship was divided into the groups Oldenburg-Friesland , Bremen and Osnabrück , the winners of which played the Gauliga champions. A year later, the championship was canceled prematurely during the group phase due to the war.
