Germania Walsrode is a sports club from Walsrode in the Heidekreis district . The first soccer team took part in the DFB Cup once.

history

The association was founded on June 4, 1916 by thirty members of the local youth armed forces. Initially the club was called the soccer team of the youth company 330 , before the name SV Germania was adopted four weeks later . In 1936 Germania reached the first round of the North German Cup, where they lost to Hannover 96 with 1: 4. Five years later, the team reached the promotion round to the Lower Saxony Gauliga , where they had no chance against the Osnabrück TSV and the Bremer SV . In 1952 he was promoted to the third class amateur league 6 . Two years later, Germania took part in the promotion round to the amateur league of Lower Saxony , where the Walsroder failed, on behalf of the relinquishing relay champion SpVgg Rotenburg . In the following season, Germania became champions, but failed again in the promotion round. In 1956, the Walsroder moved to the newly established Amateur League 7, where the team sank into mediocrity.

In 1964, Germania missed the newly created Association League East by lengths and had to return to the district league. It was not until 1977 that the Association League was promoted. At the same time, SV Germania merged with VfB Walsrode to form SG Germania Walsrode . In addition, a support group was set up, which subsequently committed numerous players and coaches from Hanover to the Heidestadt. Two years later, Germania became champions of the Association League East, only finishing last in the promotion round. In 1982 he was promoted to the Lower Saxony Association League as a champion of the Landesliga Ost . At the same time, Germania qualified for the DFB-Pokal, where they lost 3-0 to 1. FC Nürnberg in the first round . After an eighth place in the association league season 1982/83 it went downhill the following year. Internal squabbles and a high level of debt led to relegation in 1984. In the state league, the Walsroder were runner-up behind Kickers Emden in 1988 and qualified six years later for the newly created Lower Saxony League East . From this, the team was relegated in 2001 and was passed through to the district league a year later.

In 2019, Germania was relegated to the district league, but managed to get promoted again.
