The 1971-72 season of the Landesliga Niedersachsen was the 23rd season of the highest Lower Saxony amateur league in football . It was the eighth under the name Landesliga and at that time took the third highest level in the German league system. The champions were VfB Oldenburg . In addition to Oldenburg, SV Meppen and Preußen Hameln took part in the promotion round to Regionalliga Nord . Oldenburg and Meppen were able to prevail and rose to the regional league.

No team had to relegate to the Association League, as two Lower Saxony teams were promoted to the Regionalliga Nord and no Lower Saxony team had to relegate from the Regionalliga Nord. For this, the TuS Bodenteich and the Hannoversche SC rose from the association league .
