Tuspo Holzminden (officially: Turn- und Sportverein Holzminden eV ) was a sports club from Holzminden . The first soccer team played from 1949 to 1953 in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony.

history

On April 18, 1913, schoolchildren founded VfB Holzminden , which in 1939 had to merge with MTV 1849 Holzminden to become VfL 1849 Holzminden under pressure from the National Socialists . After the Second World War it became Tuspo Holzminden. Under this name, they were accepted into the first-class Oberliga Niedersachsen-Süd in 1946 , where they finished eighth. Tuspo missed the newly introduced Oberliga Nord and was grouped in the Landesliga Hildesheim . There they became runner- up in 1948, two points behind 1. SC Göttingen 05, and one year later they only managed to qualify for the newly created amateur league Lower Saxony- East with difficulty . The team held out for three years with average success in this class before relegation in 1953 had to be accepted.

With only ten points and 123 goals conceded, the team finished last. Only one point behind TSV Giesen , Tuspo was runner-up in the Amateur League 5 . At the end of the season, dissatisfied members split off as VfB Holzminden . Tuspo, in turn, had to relegate from the amateur league in 1959 and met VfB for the first time in the 1959/60 season. In 1962, Tuspo was promoted to the amateur league again and was instant champion. In the promotion round, however, you failed because of the sports friends Lebenstedt . A year later, Tuspo secured the last championship of the amateur league and qualified for the new Association League South . In 1966, the Holzmindener champions were promoted to the Lower Saxony state league , the highest amateur league in the state at the time.

With eleventh place in the promotion season, the club reached its peak. In the following years Tuspo played exclusively against relegation. In 1972 they finished last, but stayed in the regional league because both champions VfB Oldenburg and vice SV Meppen were promoted to the Regionalliga Nord . A year later, he was finally relegated from the Upper House of Lower Saxony. A sporty downward slide began for Tuspo. In 1975 the team was relegated from the association league and was immediately passed through to the district class. In 1985 the team returned to the Hanover regional league, but in 1991 had to accept relegation to the regional class .

Successor clubs

As a result, Tuspo merged on June 21, 1991 with local rivals VfB Holzminden and Altendorfer SV, founded in 1962, to become Sportfreunde Holzminden . In July 2005 the club name was changed to SC Weser / Solling Holzminden . This merged in April 2006 with the Holzmindener SV founded in 1986 to form SV 06 Holzminden .
