Falke Steinfeld (officially: Sportverein Falke Steinfeld von 1920 eV ) is a sports club from Steinfeld in the district of Vechta . The first soccer team played in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony between 1951 and 1961.

history

In 1920, founded high school students to FC Falke Steinfeld , which later became the SV Falke Steinfeld was. In addition to football, the club also offers handball , gymnastics , judo and sports badges .

In 1948 the team reached the Oldenburg-Süd district league and qualified a year later for the newly created Amateur League 2 . In 1951 the team won the championship and was promoted to the Lower Saxony- West amateur league . There, thanks to 28 goals this season by Theo Schönhöft in the 1951/52 season, the league succeeded. Schönhöft then moved to VfL Osnabrück and later became a national player . The sporting zenith was reached in the 1955/56 season when the Falke-Elf finished fourth at the end of the season. After several years in midfield, the Steinfeld 1961 had to relegate to the amateur league. In 1964 they qualified for the newly created Verbandsliga West , where they were runner-up in 1965 and 1972 respectively. In 1976 the Falke-Elf failed in the promotion round to the Lower Saxony State League . Until 1986, the stone fields held in the fifth division. A 1: 3 defeat in the relegation game against Sportfreunde Salzgitter led to relegation. In the 1994/95 season the Steinfelder returned to the Landesliga Weser / Ems . From 2009 Falke Steinfeld played in the Weser / Ems 4 regional league and was runner-up there in 2015 behind Hansa Friesoythe . Four years later, he was promoted to the national league.
