history

On July 17, 1909, middle-class youths founded the Lower Saxony Döhren ball game club . This merged in 1919 with the BC 1918 Döhren to today's game association Lower Saxony, which rose in 1922 in the then first-class Südkreisliga . In 1925, the Döhren runners-up behind SV Arminia Hannover . It was not possible to build on the successes, as numerous top performers ended their careers and the home ground of Sonnenwende fell victim to road expansion. In 1927, the Döhrener rose after a 2: 3 defeat in the playoff against VfL Helmstedt . Nine years later, he was relegated to the district class.

It wasn't until the 1950s that the club made a name for itself again. In 1956 the A-Juniors became Lower Saxony champions. Four years later, the first team rose to the amateur league 3 . Under coach Klemens Heyduck they became runner-up in 1963 and champions one year later. In the promotion round to the Lower Saxony state league they failed at FC Schöningen 08 , so the Döhrener continued to play in the southern league . There they became champions in 1967 under coach Friedel Schicks and after a 5-0 promotion round win over Sportfreunde Salzgitter they made it to the state league , the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony.

The 1968/69 season ended in fifth place. Since the amateur teams of the local rivals Hannover 96 and Arminia Hannover were better placed, the Döhrener had to play a decisive game with Teutonia Uelzen tied for points to get into the Regionalliga promotion round. Thanks to an own goal by Kostka, Teutonia won the game played in Burgdorf 1-0. In the 1970s things went downhill in terms of sport: in 1971 you were the last to be relegated from the regional league, in 1976 you had to say goodbye to the Verbandsliga Süd and in 1978 you even ended up in the district class.

There was a brief renaissance in the 1990s when they played in the Lower Saxony West League between 1996 and 2000 . Since the rise in 2010, the Döhrener play in the district league.

Lower Saxony Döhren plays its home games on its sports facility at Schützenallee 10 in Hannover-Döhren, which it shares with the rugby club Schwalbe Döhren. The square has four rows of stands on one side and no other stands. Since 2005 in the Bundesliga as a referee used Babak Rafati whistles for Niedersachsen Döhren. He committed a suicide attempt on November 19, 2011, which also drew public attention to his club.
