The VfL Seesen was a sports club from Seesen in Lower Saxony district of Goslar . The first soccer team played for seven years in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony.

history

VfL Seesen went back to FC Seesen , which was founded in 1911 and which failed three times in the 1920s to advance to the top division. In 1938, FC was forcibly merged with the Spiel und Sport Seesen club to form VfL Seesen . Ten years later, he was promoted to the Braunschweig regional league , where qualification for the newly created, second-rate amateur league of Lower Saxony was missed. After the championship in the amateur league 5 , VfL prevailed in the subsequent round of promotion and made promotion.

After an eleventh place in the 1950/51 season, relegation to the amateur league followed a year later, which was followed by a further descent to the district league. It was not until 1962 that the club returned to the amateur league, and two years later failed to qualify for the new Association League East . This was achieved in the years between 1974 and 1977 and in the 1978/79 season under coach Horst Wolter . In 1981 he was finally promoted to the Lower Saxony Association League . There VfL achieved the best placement in 1983 with sixth place.

Financial problems and internal turbulence led to relegation from the association league in 1985, which was followed a year later by relegation from the Landesliga Ost . In 1997 the board withdrew the team to the district class. Two years later, VfL merged with SV Engelahe / Bilderlahe to form SV Eintracht Seesen . In 2003 there was another merger with VfV Seesen and 1. FC Azzurri Seesen to form SV Union Seesen , which is currently playing in the Goslar district league.

In the 2011/12 season the club was relegated from the district league and was part of the newly formed 1st North Harz Class Season 1.
