The VfL Visselhövede is a sports club from Visselhövede in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) . The first soccer team played two years in the highest Bremen amateur league and one year in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony.

history

In 1937 the men's gymnastics club 1860 Visselhövede and the sports club Visselhövede merged from 1921 to form the gymnastics and sports club Visselhövede . After the end of the Second World War , today's VfL Visselhövede was founded on October 3, 1945.

In 1947 the club was accepted into the Bremen State League . Two years later, the club moved to the Lower Saxony Football Association and was grouped into the then second-class amateur league Lower Saxony East. With two points behind Lehrter SV , VfL had to relegate as the penultimate. The highlight of the season was a 3: 3 at VfL Wolfsburg . It was followed by seven years in the midfield of the amateur league 6 before the team had to relegate to the district league in 1957.

Two years later, VfL returned and fought again to stay in the league. In 1963 the team rose again. In 1991 VfL missed promotion to the regional league after losing the playoff against TSV Bardowick 3: 4. In 1998 the state league was finally promoted, which was followed by immediate relegation. After relegation from the district league in 2011, the team played in the Rotenburg district league . Two years later, they were promoted to the district league again, before the team relegated to the district league in 2016 and was promptly passed through to the 1st district class.
