The SV Linden 07 (officially: Sports Club of 1907 Linden eV ) is a sports club from today to Hannover belonging Linden with venue in the stadium on Linden Berg . The first soccer team played for six years in the Lower Saxony Gauliga or South Hanover-Braunschweig and from 1949 to 1955 and in the 2001/02 season in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony.

history

The club was founded in 1907 as the 07 Linden football club . In 1915 this merged with the Linder sports club, which was founded in the same year, to form today's SV 07 Linden. In the 1919/20 season, the team playing in purple took part in the then first-class Hannover District League, but had to relegate immediately. In 1924 they returned to the now regional league Südhannover-Braunschweig called top division. For four years they fought against relegation there. In 1928, after two playoffs against VfL Helmstedt , they secured relegation. Because of the football revolution , the Linden had to go back to the second division.

In 1935, 07 Linden reached the promotion round to the Lower Saxony Gauliga . The team, trained by Robert Fuchs , who works full-time at Hannover 96 , made it to the top after a 3-0 win over VfL Osnabrück . However, Osnabrück successfully protested against their own defeat at SVG Göttingen 07 . A playoff was set for the promotion between Linden and Osnabrück, which VfL won 4: 3.

Two years later, 07 Linden missed promotion to the Gauliga as second behind Germania Wolfenbüttel . Since Borussia Harburg and Wilhelmsburg 09 were transferred to the Gauliga Nordmark , an additional qualification was played out in which the Linden team prevailed. Without a win and with two draws, the Gauliga season 1937/38 was immediately relegated. The team managed to get promoted again and prevailed against the favored 1. SC Göttingen 05 in the promotion round . This time the team was able to establish itself in the Gauliga, but rose again in 1944. In 1941 they took part in the Tschammer Cup, where they were eliminated in the second round after a 1: 5 at Hannover 96.

After the Second World War , 07 Linden played in the Oberliga Niedersachsen-Süd and surprisingly came third in 1947. The team was thus qualified for the new Oberliga Nord . A week before the start of the season, Linden received FC St. Pauli according to the schedule , the club was pushed out of the league. Hannover 96 protested against the eligibility of a Göttingen player named Pliska. After various protests and counter-protests, Hannover 96 was accepted into the Oberliga and 07 Linden had to go to the Landesliga Hannover . As a result, the club lost the future German national player Josef Posipal to SV Arminia Hannover .

In 1949 the Linden champions were won, but missed the leap into the league in the promotion round. Instead, the club was grouped into the newly created amateur league Lower Saxony- West. After two years in midfield, they moved to the eastern group, from which they were relegated in 1955. A year later they became runner-up behind the Hannoversche SC , before relegation from the amateur league followed in 1958. Not until 1973 did they return to the Verbandsliga Süd , where they were supposed to stay until the league was dissolved in 1979.

In 1994, 07 Linden was promoted to the Hanover State League and seven years later qualified for the Lower Saxony League West under coach Wilfried Bergmann . After the missed relegation, a sporty slide began. In 2005 they were relegated from the state league, five years later they said goodbye to the district league and were passed straight through to the 1st district class of Hannover-Stadt. In 2018 he was promoted to the district league again.

Water polo

The club's water polo team became champions of the then second-class Oberliga Nord in 1972, but had to forego promotion to the Bundesliga . Due to the Olympic preparation of the national team, the relegation regulation there was suspended this season. The majority of the players moved a year later to Waspo Hannover-Linden , whose team then made it to the top division.
