(red = relay east, blue = relay west)

The regional soccer class of Saxony in 1949/50 was the first edition of the regional soccer class of Saxony . After the top national classes had already been introduced in the other countries in the previous season, games were played in five districts in Saxony, whose district champions qualified for a final round. At this season, a national soccer league was also introduced in Saxony. Originally, the regional league was planned with two seasons of ten teams each, as had been decided by a regional football leaders' conference in November 1948. In the end, there was an East relay with eleven teams and a West relay with twelve teams. The two season winners played the Saxon soccer champions in a final, who was allowed to take part in the promotion round to the GDR Oberliga in 1950/51 .

The SG Dresden-Mickten prevailed in three games against the SG Lauter . Since Dresden also successfully competed in the promotion round, the club played first-class in the coming season. Lauter, the two season runner-ups BSG Pneumatik Aue and BSG Fewa Chemnitz , as well as the winner of a play-off between the two thirds of the season, BSG Erich Zeigner Leipzig , were promoted to the second-rate GDR league, which was newly introduced for the coming season . As a result of this introduction, the state class of Saxony was only third class from the coming season. Since the national class was reduced to a season with 14 teams in the coming year, a total of six clubs had to relegate to the district league.

Due to the downsizing of the Saxony regional soccer class for the coming season, a total of six teams had to be relegated. The clubs from place 10 of both seasons were determined to be relegated (East relay had 11 participants, West relay 12 participants).
