The prehistory of the football sports club can be traced back to the end of the Second World War without interruption . Previously, all sports clubs in the Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ) had been dissolved, and sports competitions were initially only allowed in limited local areas. For this purpose, loosely organized sports groups / sports communities (SG) were allowed to form. Such a sports community was also established in Löbau in 1946, which participated with a soccer team in the Löbau district championship in 1946/47 and won the championship title. 1947/48 the SG Löbau took part in the championship of the soccer district Ostsachen, in which they reached fifth place out of ten teams. For the 1948/49 season, sports competitions could be held across the zone. The SG Löbau remained in the East Saxon league, but was able to improve to third place. In 1949, the football game drive in the Soviet Zone was reorganized, and five national leagues emerged as the 2nd division. Under the new name Red-White, the SG Löbau was classified in the Saxon regional league in the East relay and came in eighth among eleven teams at the end of the 1949/50 season.

As early as 1948, the reorganization of the entire sports area in the Soviet Zone on the basis of company sports associations (BSG) had begun . These were financed and organizationally supported by so-called sponsoring companies . On July 1, 1950, the SG Rot-Weiß was also converted into a BSG, whose sponsoring company was the Löbauer consumer cooperative . The BSG was given the name “Konsum Löbau”. With the introduction of the GDR League , the state class of Saxony in 1950/51 became the 3rd division in the GDR, which has now been founded . The BSG Konsum was only 13th and had to go down.

1951 to 1989

In 1951 the central sports association Empor was founded, to which all company sports associations with sponsoring companies of the trade were subordinated and which in future had to be called BSG Empor. Löbau thus started as BSG Empor from the 1951/52 season. Until the end of the GDR soccer game operation in 1990, the BSG played predominantly in the Dresden district class, which, with the exception of the seasons 1956 to 1962/63 ( 2nd GDR league ), was fourth class. The Löbauern were promoted to the district league three times . In 1954/55 and 1973/74 the BSG Empor only gave a one-year guest performance there, only from 1977/78 to 1982/83 it was enough for a longer stay in the third class. In the years from 1965 to 1977 the BSG Empor was in the shadow of the army sports association Vorwärts Löbau , which was mostly better placed until its dissolution in 1977 and at times even played in the second-rate GDR league .

BSG Empor Löbau achieved their greatest success in 1980 when they won the Dresden Football District Cup with a 4-0 win over the fourth division club Chemie Coswig . Winning the cup entitles them to participate in the GDR-wide soccer cup competition 1980/81. There the Löbauer had to compete in the first main round against the GDR league club progress Bischofswerda , to which they were defeated 1: 7 at home.

1989 to 2015

In the last season of the GDR football game operation in 1989/90, the BSG Empor played again in the Dresden district class, where they had reached second place four times in recent years. In 1990 it was enough for a third place. In that year the system of company sports associations collapsed as a result of the economic changes caused by the political change in 1989/90 . The Löbauer BSG was no longer supported by the local trade and had to adapt to the new circumstances. In the course of 1990, members of the BSG founded the registered football-sports club-association Empor Löbau. This took over the football section of the BSG and was integrated into the Dresden district class for the 1990/91 season, which was the 4th division within the newly founded Northeast German Football Association . There the FSV also reached third place. Since 2011, the FSV Empor has been represented in the eight-class Oberlausitzliga, where it last came in sixth in 2014/15. On June 30, 2015, the FSV Empor Löbau merged with the SG Medizin Großschweidnitz to form the new multi-discipline sports club Großschweidnitz-Löbau. The new sports club took over from the 2015/16 season on the place of the Empor football team in the Oberlausitz League.
