The P3 Flyers are a civilian aerobatic team that flies with Pilatus P-3 demonstrations in Europe.

history

The team uses P-3s that were previously used by the Swiss Air Force . The first Pilatus P-3 for the team was purchased in 1992, the team debut was in 1996 with two aircraft. In 2001 the first official demonstration was with three aircraft. In the first few years, simple overflights were shown at air shows with 2-3 aircraft. However, the desire to show a program with different flight figures quickly arose. In 2003 the team received a license for aerobatic demonstrations from the FOCA , now with 4 aircraft. This authorization must be reassigned by the FOCA every year after a 3-day training session in spring. In 2006 the 5th airplane was added, which made more complex choreographies and additional elements possible. Since 2007 all 5 aircraft have been equipped with a smoke system. In the summer months, the P3 flyers fly demonstrations locally in Ticino, nationally in Switzerland and internationally in the rest of Europe. The team was at the RIAT in Great Britain in 2011 and in the Czech Republic in 2016 . In Switzerland, on the 75th anniversary of the Pilatus Flugzeugwerke , they flew with the Pilatus PC-24 roll out at Buochs airfield or on the Air14 at the Payerne military airfield .
