Sally Line (sometimes referred to as Sally Ferries UK ) was a British ferry company that operated ferry services in the English Channel and the North Sea .

history

The Sally Line was founded in 1981 by Michael Kingshott as a subsidiary of the Finnish Rederi Ab Sally . It was initially marketed as Sally Viking Line , with the corporate colors of the parent company Viking Line , which is active in the Baltic Sea traffic . The ships used were also named Viking .

In 1987 Rederi Ab Saylly , including Sally Line, was sold to Effoa and Johnson Line . As a result, the fleet color and the names of the ships were changed, which from then on each began with Sally . The company then operated between 1993 and 1998 as Sally Line, a ferry line operated by the Australian company Holyman Sally Line from Ramsgate in the UK to Oostende . This ended when Holyman relocated its operations to Dover as part of a partnership with Hoverspeed . Shortly before the end of its existence, the company adapted its fleet color and logo to that of Silja Line , another ferry company owned by Effoa and Johnson Line. In 1998, Sally Line stopped ferry traffic.
