Ramsgate is an English port city and has also been a Civil Parish in eastern Kent since 2004 . It belongs to the Thanet district and has 42,632 inhabitants (as of 2017). Besides the fishing industry, tourism is one of the city's main sources of income.
history
Until April 2013 there was a ferry connection with the Belgian city of Ostend . Ferries used to go to Vlissingen ( Netherlands ) and Dunkirk ( France ). From 1969 to 1981 there was also a connection with air-cushion ferries of the type Saunders Roe Nautical 4 of the shipping company Hoverlloyd to Calais in France.
