The ASG Vorwärts Löbau was a German army sports association from Löbau in today's district of Görlitz , whose football department existed between 1956 and 1977.

Football section

The ASG Vorwärts Löbau, which has been subordinate to the Vorwärts army sports association since it was founded, began operating in higher-class GDR football for the first time in 1956 . 1966 succeeded the first promotion to the third class district league Dresden . The army sports community immediately played in the upper third of the top division of the Dresden district and rose to the GDR league in 1971 after two previously failed attempts against BSG Wismut Pirna-Copitz and TSG Gröditz .

In the second highest East German league, the East Saxons were able to maintain the league in the first two seasons, but rose again in the 1973/74 season together with the second representatives of FC Karl-Marx-Stadt and Stahl Riesa from the third division. In the following period, the Löbauer behind Vorwärts Kamenz and progress Bischofswerda only just missed the renewed promotion to the GDR league. In 1977 the financial supporter NVA withdrew and several ASG players joined the district league team Empor Löbau . Vorwärts Löbau was prematurely dissolved analogous to other army sports associations such as ASG Vorwärts Neubrandenburg , ASG Vorwärts Cottbus or ASG Vorwärts Leipzig .
