The SG Planitz is a former German sports association from the Zwickau district of Planitz in Saxony .
The sports community was founded on March 15, 1946 as a replacement for Planitzer SC , which was dissolved in Germany in 1945 on the basis of Directive No. 23 of the Allied Control Council of the occupying powers at the time . She became known mainly through her soccer team, which won the Zwickau championship in 1947. In 1948 the Planitz Westsachsenmeister were qualified after a 3-0 victory in front of 25,000 spectators in Leipzig over SG Chemnitz West for the 1st East Zone Championship . After a 3-1 away win at SG Schwerin and a 5-0 win on neutral ground in Dresden over SG Weimar-Ost, Planitz reached the final. On July 4, 1948 in front of 40,000 spectators in the Bruno-Plache-Stadion in Leipzig , the following players met the final opponent SG Freiimfelde Halle :
- Anton Huber - Erich Merkel , Egon Jugel - Günther Schneider , Herbert Seltmann , Erich Meichsner - Hans Meier , Johannes Breitenstein , Horst Weiß , Karl Dittes and Helmut Fischer .
White scored the 1-0 winner in the 38th minute. In the final round of the all-German championship , SG Planitz was drawn in the quarter-finals against 1. FC Nuremberg . However, the Soviet occupying forces refused the players permission to travel, so that they could not attend the encounter.
On March 15, 1949, the Horch automobile plant in Zwickau took over SG Planitz, which then continued the successful Planitz football stadium as ZSG Horch Zwickau . Some of the Planitz players joined the BSG activist Steinkohle Zwickau . The ZSG successors BSG Motor and BSG Sachsenring belonged to the top division of the Oberliga until 1983 .
