A radar tower is used to accommodate a radar system for recording aircraft or ships.

function

The system's constantly rotating parabolic antenna is characteristic . If this is protected from the weather by a radome , the antenna is not visible from the outside. There are also systems with electronic beam steering without a movable antenna.

Six en-route radar systems have been set up at special points in Germany for supraregional air traffic control and air surveillance . The data obtained here are fed into the civilian RADNET and transmitted to all civil and military control centers.

Ideally, a radar tower is in an elevated position, as this reduces the elevation angle and increases the detection range of the radar device . In the absence of an elevated position, radar towers are used.

The Air Force Operations Management Service uses radar towers for the stationary radar systems in the operations command areas.
