After the end of the Second World War in 1945, all clubs in the Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ) were permanently banned. For sports traffic, the formation of loosely organized sports communities / sports groups (SG) was allowed, which were initially only allowed to carry out competitions at the local level. SG Dresden-Mickten was founded in 1945, and its soccer team took part in the Dresden soccer championship in 1946/47. Behind the SG Dresden-Friedrichstadt Mickten came second. In 1947/48 the SG Mickten won the Dresden championship and qualified for the Saxon final round . There she lost 3-1 to SG Chemnitz West in the quarter-finals . In the 1948/49 season the SG Mickten won the Saxony Cup with a 4-2 victory over BSG Nagema Chemnitz , but did not get beyond the runner-up title in the Dresden district in the championship. However, this was enough for participation in the newly created state class of Saxony for 1949/50 . In the national class relay east Mickten took first place among eleven teams, but tied with BSG Fewa Chemnitz . The playoff for the relay championship on March 19, 1950 Mickten won 1-0. This cleared the way for the final of the Saxon championship. The final opponent was SG Lauter , against which two games were initially planned in Dresden and Beierfeld . Mickten won the first game in front of 12,000 spectators in Dresden's Heinz-Steyer Stadium with a goal by Eberhard Petersohn 1-0. Since the second leg was lost 2-1, a third and decisive game was scheduled on April 10, 1950. In Chemnitz , SG Mickten finally secured the championship 3-2. She competed in the following cast:

Fritz Ritter - Hans Breite , Kurt Hoegg - Heinz Findeisen , Rolf Berger , Heinz Berner - Rudolf Thieme , Heinz Nicklich , Kurt Forke , Felix Vogel , Eberhard Petersohn (goals: 1: 0 Thieme, 2: 1 Vogel, 3: 1 Forke)

As a Saxon champion, the SG Dresden-Mickten was eligible to participate in the promotion round to the Eastern Zone League , the new top division in the SBZ from 1949/50. The promotion round took place between April 16 and June 25, 1950 with the five East German champions with home and away games. The Dresden team played as SG Mickten for the first three games. At the beginning of May 1950, the Mickten sports community was affiliated to the company sports community (BSG) Sachsenverlag Dresden, and the football team ended the promotion round under the new name. In the eight games she won four games, drew three times and only lost 5-2 to fellow promoted BSG Eisenhüttenwerk Thale .

With SG Mickten the foundation stone was laid for the successful appearance of the SC Einheit Dresden soccer team , which was the first player in the Dresden soccer scene from 1954 to 1962 and won the GDR soccer cup in 1958 .

Other sports

In addition to the successes in football, SG Dresden-Mickten also attracted attention through its high diver Heinz Kitzig. After the war he became student world champion and in 1949 Eastern Zone Champion.
