Rolf Berger (born May 17, 1927 ) is a former German soccer player. For Rotation Dresden he played three seasons in the top division in GDR football , the GDR Oberliga .

Athletic career

From 1947 on, Rolf Berger played football for SG Dresden-Mickten . In 1949 he was with the team of Saxon cup winners, in 1950 football championship. In the decisive game for the championship against SG Lauter, he was involved in a 3-2 win as a middle runner . The subsequent promotion games to the league successfully completed Saxony's champions, but was connected to the company sports community (BSG) Sachsenverlag Dresden in the course of the games . The start of the top division season 1950/51 was carried out by Dresden under the new name BSG Rotation Dresden. Of the 34 league games played, Rolf Berger played 24 games, although he had a somewhat bumpy start in the first half of the season with only ten appearances. After he had consolidated, he was regularly used as a right runner. In the following seasons 1951/52 and 1952/53 Berger was no longer part of the regular squad of the BSG rotation. While he played three league games in 1951/52, he was only called up once on the first match day in 1952/53. The 25-year-old had made 28 appearances in the GDR upper league and scored two goals. Then Berger moved to the third-rate district division Stahl Freital , with whom he rose to the GDR league in 1953 . There he only played three point games. After the 1953/54 season he left Freital and then no longer appeared in higher-class football.
