Pavel Filip (born April 10, 1966 in Pănăşeşti ) is a Moldovan politician. Filip was Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova from January 20, 2016 to June 8, 2019 .

Career

Between 2011 and 2016 Filip was Minister for Information Technologies and Communication . On January 20, 2016, he was appointed Prime Minister of Moldova. On June 8th, Maia Sandu was elected as the new head of government by the parliament of the Republic of Moldova against the will of the constitutional court and against the resistance of Vladimir Plahotniuc , who did not recognize the legitimacy of the parliament and the government, and was elected by the president of the Republic of Moldova as a candidate of the party Action and Solidarity Dodon sworn in. In response, on June 9, 2019, the Constitutional Court suspended Dodon from his post and installed Pavel Filip as interim president. Filip then signed a decree dissolving parliament and calling new elections on September 6, 2019.

Pavel Filip is a member of the Moldovan Democratic Party .
