Eberhard Petersohn (born February 9, 1928 ) is a former German soccer player. In the 1950s he played for Rotation / Einheit Dresden in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football. In 1958 he won the GDR soccer cup with Einheit Dresden .

Athletic career

After Petersohn won the Saxon soccer cup with SG Dresden-Mickten in 1949, he was successful with his team in the state championship of Saxony a year later. In the decisive game for the championship title in 1950 against SG Lauter , he was on the field with a 3-1 win as a left winger. In the eight promotion games to the GDR league, Petersohn scored three of the 21 goals that helped the team win the promotion round. During the promotion games, the SG Mickten was integrated into the company sports community (BSG) Sachsenverlag Dresden.

As a BSG rotation, the Dresden team went into their first league season in 1950/51. Petersohn was one of the youngest players in the team and was used regularly from the 2nd match day on. He played 29 of the 34 played point games and with his ten goals was one of the most successful goalscorers of the BSG rotation. While he had mainly stormed on the right wing in his first league season, he was used continuously as a left winger in the seasons 1951/52 and 1952/53 and was missing a total of only six point games. After Petersohn had already failed at the end of the 1952/53 season, he was only used twice in the second half of the season in 1953/54. From the 1954/55 season he found his old strength back, in the four seasons up to 1958 (calendar year season) he was missing in a total of 104 championship games played in only ten matches. As early as 1954, the BSG Rotation had been transferred to the newly founded SC Einheit Dresden . The 1958 season ended for the SC unit with the win of the FDGB soccer cup . In the final against SC Lokomotive Leipzig (2: 1 a. V.) Petersohn played in his traditional position as a left winger. As a 31-year-old, Petersohn started his last league season in 1959. He played again 19 of 26 point games. On the 1st matchday he scored his last goal against SC Dynamo Berlin and came on the 23rd matchday against Chemie Zeitz for his last league appearance. It was his 206th league championship game, in which he scored 53 goals.

His son Karsten Petersohn later also played in the GDR Oberliga, where he made 66 appearances.
