Football section
The SV Cainsdorf was founded in 1919 under the name ATB Cainsdorf . The workers 'club acted on a sporting level in the championship of the ATSB , but in contrast to the large Saxon workers' clubs of the Dresden SV 10 and VfL Leipzig-Stötteritz, it played no role. When the National Socialists came to power, the association was dissolved in 1933.
In 1945 the initially loose sports group appeared as SG Cainsdorf . The West Saxony played in the seasons 1947/48 and 1948/49 a total of two years in the Landesliga Sachsen ( SBZ ), which was completed with secured midfield positions. In 1949 the SG was briefly renamed Mechanik Cainsdorf , with the entry of the Wismut sports association and the local BAC (company for mining and processing plants in Cainsdorf) as the sponsoring company , the name was changed again to BAC Wismut Cainsdorf .
In 1963, together with Vorwärts Marienberg and activist Karl Marx Zwickau , they were promoted to the Karl-Marx-Stadt district league for the first time . Wismut Cainsdorf held the third-highest division in the GDR at that time with secured midfield positions until 1967, and in the 1967/68 season the Zwickau team were relegated to the fourth-class district class area behind TSG Stollberg .
Afterwards, Wismut Cainsdorf sank into the insignificance of GDR football. In 1990 the club was renamed SV Cainsdorf again . Since then, the club has been active in local West Saxon football without exception. After the 2010/11 season, which ended in last place with only 3 points in the lowest regional division, football in Cainsdorf was discontinued. A successor club SV Cainsdorf 2011 was founded on December 13, 2010. Currently (2016) this club is mainly active in table tennis.
