Baalberge is a district of the city of Bernburg (Saale) in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Baalberge is about 5 km southeast of the district town of Bernburg (Saale) . Kleinwirschleben was designated as a district of the former municipality.

climate

The annual precipitation is 460 mm, this amount is extremely low. The value is in the lower twentieth of the values ​​recorded in Germany. history

The first documented mentions of the place go back to the 12th century. In 1632 Baalberge was sacked by the Swedes for the first time before it was completely demolished in 1644 along with other localities in the area. Today's church was built on the foundations of an old Romanesque church until 1885 . In 1908 a chemical fertilizer factory was built in the Kleinwirschleben district of Baalberg, which existed for 20 years until bankruptcy .

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Kleinwirschleben was incorporated.

The village has been subject to fundamental changes since the fall of the Wall : A new industrial area was created, as well as a new residential area and a wind farm around the Trappenberg.

From January 1, 2005, the municipality of Baalberge belonged to the administrative community of Nienburg (Saale) . On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the city of Bernburg (Saale) together with Biendorf , Gröna , Peißen , Poley , Preußlitz and Wohlsdorf .

Culture and sights

  • The Baalberg culture is a fully developed early Neolithic culture in central Germany. It was named after the first find in the Schneiderberg of Baalberge.
  • Memorial from 1973 in the entrance area of ​​the secondary school "Sophie Scholl" to honor the Christian anti-Nazis Hans and Sophie Scholl , who were murdered in 1943.
