Roschwitz is a district of the district town of Bernburg (Saale) in the Salzlandkreis ( Saxony-Anhalt ).

location

Roschwitz is located south of Bernburg on the left bank of the Fuhne.

history

Roschwitz can be traced back to a Slavic foundation called Rusokowiki (roughly translated: "Kinship and village of Rusok"). After Emperor Otto II donated the castle district to the Nienburg (Saale) monastery in Dornburg an der Elbe on March 3, 979 at the request of his wife Theophano , Roschwitz became the property of the monastery.

In the further course Roschwitz was initially a fiefdom of the monastery. It was then sold to the Count of Barby-Mühlingen and on June 13, 1352 again passed to the Nienburg monastery after the abbot signed it over to his convent for 35  silver marks . After the dissolution of the monastery in 1560, the village first went to the Anhalt dynasty before it was bought in 1614 by the Princely Privy Council and District President Georg Heinrich von Einsiedel , who had sold Kohren-Sahlis in 1602 . Another century later, on October 10, 1736, it passed to Prince Viktor Friedrich von Anhalt-Bernburg .

The two Vorwerke Gnetsch and Zepzig used to belong to the community of Roschwitz .

On October 1, 1927, Roschwitz was incorporated into Bernburg.
