Neuborna
Neuborna is a district of the district town of Bernburg (Saale) in the Salzlandkreis ( Saxony-Anhalt ) with around 2000 inhabitants.
location
Neuborna is located in the southwest of Bernburg on the eastern bank of the Saale .
history
Neuborna was built in 1932 with the participation of the Solvay Foundation for the workforce of the nearby Gröna mine, today's ESCO rock salt works. The old core of the settlement consists of two-family houses, with each family living in a semi-detached house with its own (garden) property. In the course of time, other houses were added, some of which were also designed as semi-detached houses, but also as detached single-family houses. After German reunification, numerous other single-family houses were built on the side facing Bernburg city center in newly laid out streets on formerly agricultural land and on the site of the "old brickworks", which was demolished in the late 1990s. Further houses were built on previously undeveloped land and in place of the department store on Neubornaer Platz opposite the old elementary school, which was closed after reunification and was later demolished.
Sights and recreation
In Neuborna there is the adventure pool "Saaleperle" with several water slides and other attractions. The paved Saale cycle path runs downstream from Gröna past Neuborna on both sides of the Saale. Below Neuborna on the banks of the Saale is the "Water Sports Club Empor Bernburg eV" with mooring facilities for sports boats. The campsite and the “Zur Schifferklause” excursion restaurant can also be found there. All of this lies in the Lower Saale Valley Nature Park with its floodplains.
