geography
Roszyce is located on a plateau between the Reinerzer Weistritz and the Steine not far from the European route 67 . Neighboring towns are Piszkowice in the north, Korytów in the northeast, Mikowice and Szalejów Dolny in the southeast, Szalejów Górny in the southwest and Kamieniec and Ruszowice in the northwest.
history
Roszyce was first mentioned in 1348 as Roschicz and Rouschwicz . Other spellings were Roschwicz and Ruschwicz (1350) and Rosscicz (1363). It belonged to the Glatzer Land , with which it shared the history of its political and ecclesiastical affiliation from the beginning, and consisted of two parts:
- A share belonged to Georg Daniel in Oberhannsdorf in 1575 . Since he died in 1578 without male heirs, his possessions fell as a settled fiefdom to Emperor Rudolph II in his capacity as Count von Glatz.
- Another share was owned by Hans von Donig and Zdanitz on Niedersteine in 1531 . After his death around 1535, his possessions were divided between his six sons. The third son Melchior von Donig on Seifersdorf inherited the share of Roschwitz with seven farmers . In 1570 his brother Absolon inherited this share from Donig. He sold his Roschwitz property in 1579 to Emperor Rudolf II for his chamber goods.
After the First Silesian War in 1742 and finally with the Peace of Hubertusburg in 1763, Roschwitz and the County of Glatz fell to Prussia . After the reorganization of Prussia, it belonged to the province of Silesia since 1815 and was incorporated into the district of Glatz from 1816–1945 . 28 February 1874, the rural community Roschwitz was the District assigned Koritau. In 1939 there were 224 inhabitants. As a result of the Second World War , like almost all of Silesia, it fell to Poland in 1945 and was renamed Roszyce . The German population was expelled . Some of the new residents were displaced from eastern Poland . 1975 to 1998 Roszyce belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship (German: Waldenburg ).
