history

Old manor in Mikowice

Mügwitz was first mentioned in 1337 as Migwitz . Other spellings were Mikowicz (1361) and Mekewicz (1368). From the beginning it belonged to the Glatzer Land , with which it shared the history of its political and ecclesiastical affiliation. In earlier times it consisted of several parts.

  • A part with a farm and ten gardeners belonged to the Glatzer Hospital.
  • Another part consisted of three farmers who belonged to the Glatzer Augustinian monastery , from which it passed to the Jesuits in 1597 .
  • The third component, were among the three farmers also was in 1342 in the possession of Mathes Pannwitz, 1499 the Glatzer Governor Hanns von Pannwitz on Rengersdorf and 1540 the Ludwig von Pannwitz on Albendorf . His son Heinrich von Pannwitz sold this share in 1563 to Adam von Tschischwitz ( Zischwitz ) on Gabersdorf . His son Joachim sold it in 1603 to Georg von Donig von Zdanitz on Niedersteine , Schlegel and Ebersdorf . He sold this part of Mügwitz in 1615 to David von Logau. Because of his participation in the Bohemian class uprising , his goods were confiscated by the emperor in 1625 and transferred to Carl von Strasolde in 1628 instead of a debt claim. In exchange, he handed over the three Mügwitz farmers to the Glatzer Jesuits, who already owned the three farmers who originally owned the Glatzer Augustinian monastery.
  • One part consisted only of a Kretscham served with beer. Carl von Strasolde sold this to Johann Angelo von Morgante auf Volpersdorf in 1629 , who sold it together with other properties to Georg von Gronenberg in 1637. This connected the Kretscham with its Engelgut in Oberschwedeldorfer . Both were fiefdoms , which in 1638 by Emperor Ferdinand III. was placed in the inheritance. In 1640 Georg von Gronenberg sold his goods, including the Mügwitzer Kretscham, to the imperial colonel Wolfgang Ferdinand von Fitsch, who linked the Kretscham with the Koritau rulership , which was already in his possession. After the village of Mügwitz had been in the possession of the Jesuits since 1628, with the exception of the hospital part, beer was probably served from the Jesuit brewery in Niederschwedeldorf since 1684 .

After the First Silesian War in 1742 and finally with the Peace of Hubertusburg in 1763, Mügwitz came to Prussia together with the County of Glatz . In 1787 the Prussian state took over the Mügwitzer Stiftsgut along with the entire Jesuit property and sold it to the Prussian Minister of State Friedrich Wilhelm von Reden in Niederschwedeldorf.

For 1795 are shown: A Vorwerk , seven farmers, ten gardeners and a Kretscham with the law of Beer Ausschanks.

After the reorganization of Prussia, Mügwitz belonged to the province of Silesia from 1815 and was incorporated into the district of Glatz from 1816 to 1945. As an independent rural community, it belonged to the Koritau district . In 1939 there were 120 inhabitants. As a result of the Second World War , Mügwitz fell to Poland in 1945, like almost all of Silesia, and was renamed Mikowice . The German population was expelled. Some of the new residents were displaced from eastern Poland . 1975-1998 Mikowice belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship .
