The development of the club leads back to FC Salzwedel 09 and SV Eintracht Salzwedel , which existed until 1945. In 1946, after the previous sports clubs were banned after the Second World War, the “Salzwedel-Ost” sports community was formed. In 1948 the SG gave itself the name "Sport-Freunde Salzwedel". In 1949, the Sport-Freunde merged with other sports communities to form the “Central Sports Community Geschwister Scholl Salzwedel” (ZSG). As part of the system of company sports associations (BSG), the state administration companies in Salzwedels took over the ZSG and on February 4, 1951 founded the “BSG Einheit Salzwedel” with several sports sections. In 1966 the carrier company changed and with it the name of the BSG, which was now called BSG Motor Salzwedel until the end of the GDR. In 1989 BSG Motor merged with BSG Traktor Brietz to form SV Motor Salzwedel / Brietz and in 1990 it was re-established as "SV Eintracht Salzwedel 09".

The FC Salzwedel 09 and SV Eintracht Salzwedel played until 1933 for several years in premium Gauligen Jeetze and Altmark . The FC Salzwedel 09 took 1923/24 , 1924/25 and 1927/28 as Gaumeister Jeetzes at the central German football championship in part.

In 1947/48 the SG Salzwedel-Ost took part in the 1st soccer east zone championship . By winning the championship in the Altmark football district, the SG reached the quarter-finals in Saxony-Anhalt, where the team was defeated 2: 4 by Sportfreunde Burg . In 1948/49 the SG played in the state class of Saxony-Anhalt, which was the highest division in the eastern zone at the time, and at the end of the season took 8th place in the northern relay. In 1949/50, the ZSG took 4th place in the now second-class national class north. In the 1950/51 season, the ZSG Salzwedel was represented in the third-class state league Saxony-Anhalt, but could not qualify for the 1952 newly created district league Magdeburg . In the following years, the BSG unit was in competition with the Salzwedel company sports associations Lokomotive and Aktivist and only rose to the third-class district league in 1986. However, there she was only represented for two seasons until 1988.
