Özkan Gümüş (born August 24, 1977 in Berlin ) is a former Turkish football player . He now works as a trainer .
Athletic career
Born and raised in Berlin, Gümüş first went through the youth departments of FSV Hansa 07 Berlin and Hertha Zehlendorf before moving to Hamburger SV in 1994 . There he temporarily moved up to the professional squad in 1997 and made his debut on October 17 of that year under coach Frank Pagelsdorf as a substitute for Markus Schopp in the Bundesliga when the team drew 0-0 from Werder Bremen without a goal . This was his only professional assignment, in the following years he came into play especially in the second team. He recommended himself for the Turkish U-21 national team , for which he played an international match in 1998 .
In the summer of 2000 Gümüş moved within the Regionalliga Nord to the promoted Lüneburger SK . In 2002 he moved to the first division club 1. FC Union Solingen before earning his living in Turkey from July 2003. Initially he was under contract with Manisaspor , but was later awarded to the second division club Yozgatspor . In 2006 he moved to the third division Kardemir Karabükspor , which he left after a season in the direction of Erzincanspor .
In 2008 Gümüş returned to Germany and joined the Berlin AK 07 . There he ended his career and switched to the coaching staff. At the end of the Oberliga 2010/11 season he temporarily took over the position of head coach and rose with the team to the regional league. He then acted again as an assistant coach under Jens Härtel . In the summer of 2013 he passed the A license exam . After he had held the position of co-trainer at the BAK under the head coach Dietmar Demuth , who had been in office since summer 2014 , he was promoted to the main coach in charge after his dismissal in September 2014.
